They say that economy is part perception, fed by the buyers and their own comfort level....
Among the masses, as a small business owner and an "average joe" I have certainly felt the affects of this uncertainty. However, lately, I feel reassured by the media that feeds me the data that I allow to shape my perception. For instance eye-catching post titles cannot help but inspire...
U.S. Market Shines Brighter: Manufacturers Look Homeward, Boosting Domestic Production and Spending as Overseas Gains Overseas (Wall Street Journal, Feb.8, 2012)
First line of the article: "U.S. companies, facing slowing markets and rising costs around the world, are taking a new look at their home market."
Now, that sounds promising to me. More domestic facilities and associated jobs is always favorable to the 'average joe'. Ergo, more money to spend in the market, and more overall confidence in the economy.
Other articles that show some positive indicators for a boost to the economy, though not without some reservations:
